De Ville

The name "De Ville" first appeared in October 1960 when Omega promoted their new range of Seamaster monocoque models, a line of flat, self-winding, water-resistant date watches with central seconds-hand. It was not until 1963 that their dials were marked "Seamaster De Ville". 

 

The model was very popular, so much so that by 1967, the Omega De Ville range had become the largest group within the Omega collection. It had simple models (and they were not water-resistant during these early years), but they worked because they were perceived to be youthful and stylish and their simplicity meant that they were adaptable to the latest fashion trends.

 

Dr George Daniels helped develop the new Omega De Ville Co-Axial watch in 1999, a development that ensured even greater accuracy. The new timepieces were noted for their supreme accuracy, innovative movement and shock-resistance
